چکیده

Background: We have been determined that for patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), after becoming infected with tuberculosis, the damages in their hematologic and complement systems were alleviated to a certain extent, this was an interesting phenomenon. So we hypothesized that tuberculosis infection could be useful for treating the SLE activity. Methods: In order to verify the above research conclusions, the animal experiments were conducted in combination with an SLE model mouse with BCG vaccinations. Results: The research results showed that, for the mice receiving BCG vaccinations, the serum protein complement C4 concentration was significantly higher than that of the normal saline control group. Also, the kidney damages of the experimental mice were alleviated, and their lifetimes were significantly extended. Conclusions: The research results indicated that the BCG vaccine may have therapeutic effects on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Cutaneous granulomatous reaction post intravesical BCG installation: a case report

Intravesical instillation of Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) hasbecome an established adjuvant treatment for superficial bladdercarcinoma. This treatment is associated with a relatively high rateof side effects which are mostly reversible spontaneously or canbe treated symptomatically. Serious systemic side effects are lessfrequent. One of rare complications is gran...

Osteomyelitis following Bacille Calmette-Guerin vaccination.

Secondary complications after Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination are unusual. We describe 3 immunocompetent children who developed osteomyelitis after BCG vaccination. The course of the disease is not dramatic, but marked changes are frequently visible in plain radiograph and MRI. The real-time polymerase chain reaction has an essential role to confirm the diagnosis of BCG osteomyelitis....

Intravesical immunotherapy with bacille-Calmette-Guerin (BCG) is indicated in the treatment of high-risk and intermediate-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Our goal is to describe the various disease states following induction and maintenance BCG and to describe contemporary treatment options and the current and projected clinical trial landscape for patients who recur following ...

Priming by DNA immunization augments protective efficacy of Mycobacterium bovis Bacille Calmette-Guerin against tuberculosis.

Sequential immunization with mycobacterial antigen Ag85B-expressing DNA and Mycobacterium bovis bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) was more effective than BCG immunization in protecting against Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. Depletion of the CD8(+) T cells in the immunized mice impaired protection in their spleens, indicating that this improved efficacy was partially mediated by CD8(+) T cells.
